Job summary

AECOM seeks a Wildlife Biologist II - Field focused to support California surface transportation projects as part of our Natural Resources team. This remote, part-time, on-call role prioritizes wildlife biology expertise while contributing to high-impact infrastructure initiatives.

Ideal candidates will have a biology/ecology background, 2+ years of field experience, and eligibility for work in the US. The position requires travel within Central California and surrounding regions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or a related environmental science field.
• 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency in biological surveys and monitoring in California.
• A valid driver’s license and ability to pass an MVR check.
• Independent travel will be required.
• US Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Biological compliance monitoring during active construction projects.
• Surveys for special-status wildlife and nesting birds.
• Preparation of technical reports to document survey and monitoring findings.
• Preparation of other biological reports or permit application packages as needed.
• Manage and maintain strong relationships with AECOM, client, and construction personnel.
• Organization of project files and tracking of project schedules.
