Job summary

Koniag Technology Solutions, inc, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Technical Lead to support KTS and our government customer. The position is remote and requires the ability to obtain a Public Trust.

The Technical Lead will guide the engineering direction of the ERAS Platform for a USDA project, ensuring cloud-based modern development, security, and high-quality code across backend APIs, frontend apps, and cloud infrastructure.

Qualifications

Minimum of 8 years of software engineering experience with 3+ years in a lead role.
Experience leading development teams on federal government IT projects.
Cloud-native application development and deployment experience.
Experience with agile/scrum on large-scale software projects and security standards.

Responsibilities

Lead the technical approach for all software development activities, including backend APIs, frontend applications, and cloud infrastructure
Ensure code meets PWS quality standards, including 90% test coverage, zero linting errors, and zero medium/high security vulnerabilities
Oversee integration with USDA mission systems via well-defined APIs
Guide technology decisions using approved tools (Python, Ruby, JavaScript, React, etc.) on cloud.gov infrastructure
Ensure all systems comply with Zero Trust Architecture (NIST SP 800-207), FIPS 140-2 encryption, and OWASP security standards
Maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and tools such as CircleCI
Support system documentation, hand-off planning, and contract transition requirements
Ensure API response times meet performance standards (CatEx triage under 1 second)
Collaborate daily with the Product Owner, Facilitator, and design team
