Job description

Inside Channel Systems Engineer (US) This role has been designated as ‘Remote/Teleworker’, which means you will primarily work from home. Who We Are: Hewlett Packard Enterprise is the global edge-to-cloud company advancing the way people live and work.

We help companies connect, protect, analyze, and act on their data and applications wherever they live, from edge to cloud, so they can turn insights into outcomes at the speed required to thrive in today’s complex world.

The Inside Channel/Partner Systems Engineer serves as a technical advisor and subject-matter expert across switching, wireless, routing, security, and AI‑native networking. The role supports partners with end-to-end solution design, technical validation, competitive positioning, and customer engagement.

  • Develop the technical competency and sales readiness of smaller partners.
  • Provide remote technical presales support throughout the opportunity lifecycle.
  • Help partners qualify opportunities early so they spend their time on deals they can win.
  • Assist with discovery, architecture, product selection, sizing, and configuration.
  • Review solution designs, bills of materials, and technical proposals.
  • Teach partners how to build their own bills of materials, configurations, and reference designs so they can size and quote solutions with confidence.
  • Answer partner questions on SKUs, licensing, and ordering, and help arrange access to remote demo and lab environments.
  • Deliver webinars, demonstrations, workshops, office hours, and enablement sessions.
  • Help partners position HPE Networking against competitive solutions.
  • Support customer presentations, demonstrations, and proofs of concept.
  • Identify partner capability gaps and recommend training and certification paths.
  • Work closely with Partner Account Managers to plan enablement, prioritize partners, and move opportunities forward.
  • Help partners engage TAC and escalation technical issues when a deal or deployment needs extra support.
  • Engage primarily through phone, video, digital collaboration, webinars, and other scalable programs, allowing the role to support a broad partner community.
  • Evaluate partner and customer requirements, recommend appropriate solutions or alternatives, and use independent judgment in determining the best approach.
  • Lead partner development initiatives, technical enablement programs, or opportunity-focused projects as needed. Collaborate with channel sales, distribution, product specialists, and other internal teams to expand partner capabilities, generate pipeline, accelerate opportunities, and help smaller partners grow their HPE Networking practices.
  • Stay current on the HPE Networking portfolio and on industry trends such as AI‑driven operations, automation, and cloud‑managed networking.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of networking systems engineering experience, ideally in a presales, sales engineering, or partner‑facing role.
  • Hands‑on experience designing, deploying, or supporting enterprise campus, branch, and data center networks.
  • A background in network deployment, professional services, or technical enablement is a strong plus. This role is a great fit for implementation engineers who are ready to move into presales.
  • Experience supporting partners who sell into commercial and SLED (state, local, and education) customers is preferred.
  • A history of running technical discovery, building solution designs, and delivering demos or proofs of concept.
Networking Skills
  • Solid understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, including VLANs, spanning tree, link aggregation, OSPF, and BGP.
  • Enterprise wireless design experience, including RF fundamentals, site surveys, roaming, and Wi‑Fi 6, 6E, and 7.
  • Network security and access control, including 802.1X, RADIUS, NAC (such as ClearPass), segmentation, and firewall concepts, plus familiarity with SASE and zero trust.
  • Experience with cloud‑managed networking and AI‑driven operations platforms such as HPE Aruba Networking Central or Juniper Mist.
  • Familiarity with the HPE Networking portfolio, including Aruba and Juniper switching, wireless, routing, and SD‑WAN, is a strong plus.
  • Exposure to data center fabrics such as EVPN‑VXLAN is a plus.
  • Basic scripting or automation experience (Python, REST APIs, Ansible) is nice to have.
  • Able to size solutions, build accurate bills of materials, and write design documentation that partners can actually use.
  • HPE Aruba Networking Associate level certification or higher.
  • Juniper Networks JNCIA or higher, such as JNCIA‑Junos or JNCIA‑MistAI.
  • Cisco CCNA or higher.
