Job summary

DigitalOcean is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to design and build scalable software powering its global network infrastructure. You will work at the intersection of software, networking, and hardware acceleration, developing automation and orchestration for DPUs, SmartNICs, and programmable infrastructure.

You will guide architectural decisions, author technical docs, and mentor engineers while collaborating across network, infrastructure, and hardware teams to ensure reliable, scalable

Qualifications

• Significant experience designing production software systems at scale.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, API design, concurrency, observability, and reliability.
• Proficient in Go, Python, or C++ with a track record of shipping.
• Experience building automation, orchestration, or infrastructure platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design and build network automation and orchestration systems for global infrastructure.
• Develop software for provisioning, configuration management, device lifecycle, validation and monitoring.
• Integrate software with DPUs and SmartNICs for programmable infrastructure.
• Create automation for large-scale datacenter deployments and vendor integrations.
• Lead architectural decisions and author RFCs and design documents.
• Mentor engineers and drive technical leadership across teams.
