Job summary

Uncommon Schools, a nonprofit network of K-12 charter schools, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join the Home Office accounting team. You will manage accounting for multiple schools, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely reporting, while supporting financial controls and compliance.

The role emphasizes collaboration with schools, leadership, and external partners. Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of experience, a Bachelor's in Accounting, and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 1–2 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting functions for multiple schools and maintain financial records.
• Prepare monthly and yearly closing entries and reconcile ledgers.
• Produce monthly financial statements (balance sheets, P&L) and reports.
• Oversee AR/AP, cash receipts/disbursements, and reconcile credit card expenses.
• Support fixed asset records, depreciation, and GASB lease accounting.
