Job summary

CAI is seeking a Software Developer Intern to contribute to software projects and learn from real-world projects within a fully remote, 9-week internship in 2027.

As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience developing features, fixing issues, and building technical skills while collaborating with cross-functional teams and following SDLC practices. Internship runs June 7, 2027 through August 6, 2027 with a 40-hour workweek and ET core hours.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Engineering, Geography/GIS, or a related field.
• Current Junior with a 3.5 GPA or higher.
• Analytical mindset and ability to write technical documentation clearly.
• Experience with programming languages and SDLC concepts.
• Solid problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, create, and modify general computer applications software or specialized utility programs of low complexity.
• Analyze user needs and develop software solutions.
• Design software or customize software for client use to optimize operations.
• Code and modify applications from layout to function.
• Develop new features, enhance, support, and maintain existing applications.
• Debug identified issues and provide solutions.
• Develop and support systems, components, and enhancements of low complexity.
• Code new functionality according to specifications.
• Write testable, efficient code using best practices.
• Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures and strategies.
• Assist in development of documentation and collaborate on design specs.
