Job summary

ascendingdc is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead and optimize our global messaging, virtualization, and identity platforms in a remote capacity primarily for U.S.-based teams. The role focuses on Exchange (Hybrid/On-Prem), Proofpoint, VMware, and Azure, with migrations, security hardening, and automation as core duties.

The ideal candidate has expert-level experience across Microsoft technologies, strong scripting skills, and a proven track record in complex migrations and security

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Systems Engineering experience with Microsoft enterprise technologies.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Exchange (Hybrid/On-Prem) and Proofpoint.
• Direct VMware virtualization management experience and Azure environments.
• Advanced PowerShell scripting for automation across M365, Azure, VMware, and Proofpoint.
• Strong AD/Azure AD, identity management, and networking concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain Exchange Server hybrid environments.
• Lead M365 tenant migrations with minimal disruption.
• Manage Proofpoint email security and data protection policies.
• Administer VMware-based Windows server infrastructure and Azure AD identities.
• Develop automation scripts and document system architectures and DR plans.
