We recruit globally and set high standards for excellence and collaboration in a remote-friendly environment. We are hiring a Site Reliability / Gitops Engineer to automate IT operations, define infrastructure as code, and support services used by millions of Ubuntu users.

Qualifications

• Deep experience defining operations in code with version control, peer review and CI/CD.
• Strong modern engineering background (peer-review, unit testing, SCM, CI/CD, Agile).
• Python development experience with large projects.
• Practical knowledge of Linux networking, routing, and firewalls.
• Affinity with Linux storage, from Ceph to databases.
• Hands-on experience administering enterprise Linux servers.
• Extensive knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies.
• Bachelor's degree or greater in CS or related field.

Responsibilities

• Apply IaC to develop infrastructure as code and increase automation.
• Automate software operations across private and public clouds for reusability and consistency.
• Develop new features to improve resilience and scalability of cloud and container portfolio.
• Maintain operational responsibility for core services, networks, and infrastructure.
• Set up, maintain and use observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch) and monitoring.
• Collaborate with development teams to design service architecture and playbooks.
• Provide assistance and work with globally distributed engineering and operations peers.
• Be given uninterrupted development time for larger projects and automation.
• Share knowledge and best practices with the team in sessions and mentorship.
• Carry final responsibility for time-critical escalations.
