Job summary

Best Friends Animal Society is seeking a Shelter Engagement Specialist to work remotely from Central Arkansas with travel up to 75% to shelters in the region. Qualifications

• Experience working in animal shelters is required.
• Ability to identify medical and behavioral aspects of dogs and cats.
• Comfortable working in a no-kill shelter environment.
• Experience driving large vehicles preferred but not required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and shelter software.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultative guidance and mentorship to shelters to achieve higher lifesaving outcomes.
• Travel up to 75% within Arkansas and surrounding states to evaluate needs and transport animals.
• Support shelter staff with no-kill training and best practices.
• Deliver superior customer service to shelters, volunteers and partners.
• Lead volunteers and coordinate efforts to maximize lifesaving capacity.
