Job summary

ICF is seeking a senior transmission planning engineer to own complex engagements, lead a project team, and drive strategic direction for our grid engineering practice in Puerto Rico. You will manage scope, schedule, and client relationships while delivering rigorous studies across steady-state, transient stability, and interconnection processes.

You will work with PSS/E, PSLF, and PowerWorld, mentor engineers, and contribute to business development by shaping proposals and client scoping.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
  • 2+ years of experience in transmission planning, power system studies, or related electrical engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical lead or study manager on transmission planning engagements, owning scope, schedule, quality, and client relationship.
  • Perform steady-state load flow and contingency analysis for utility transmission planning and interconnection studies.
  • Conduct transient stability and dynamic simulation studies, including modeling of conventional generation and inverter-based resources (IBR).
  • Lead generation and large load interconnection impact studies across regional footprints (CAISO, MISO, PJM, ERCOT, WECC).
  • Develop and assess long-range transmission expansion plans evaluating load growth and renewable buildout.
  • Support FERC policy and interconnection reform compliance work for utility clients.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through technical review and collaboration.
  • Participate in business development through proposals, scope development, and client presentations.
