Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a Principal Rust Engineer to design and optimize high-performance Rust systems powering AI data pipelines and model evaluation workloads. The role emphasizes collaboration with research and engineering teams on scalable, production-grade infrastructure.

You will contribute to data annotation tooling, validation, and quality control, while ensuring safety and performance in production Rust codebases. This is a fully remote, hourly contract with flexible hours.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Rust experience in data-intensive applications.
• Strong memory management and zero-copy deserialization.
• Experience integrating Rust with ML frameworks or columnar data standards such as Arrow/Parquet to support model training workflows.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• Able to commit 20–40 hours per week remotely.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize high-performance Rust systems for AI data pipelines and model evaluation workflows.
• Develop full-stack tooling and backend services for large-scale data annotation, validation, and quality control.
• Improve reliability, performance, and safety across production Rust codebases.
• Identify bottlenecks and edge cases in data and system behavior, then implement scalable, lasting fixes.
• Collaborate with data, research, and engineering teams to accelerate model training and evaluation workflows.
• Participate in synchronous design reviews to iterate on architecture and implementation decisions.
