Job summary

Abnormal AI is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer for the Message Detection - Attack Detection team. You will design and deploy systems that fuse rules, models, feature engineering, and business inputs to detect email threats at scale.

You will build high-recall detectors, train on labeled data, monitor FN/FP, and collaborate with infrastructure to productionize signals for our customers. This is a remote USA role with competitive compensation and equity opportunities.

Qualifications

• 3+ years designing, building and deploying ML applications in NLP/text domains.
• 1+ years of production ML pipelines for training and evaluation.
• SQL + pandas + Spark for data and metrics pipelines.
• Translate business requirements into scalable ML solutions.
• Debug data and system issues in ML/heuristics models.
• Fluent with Python and ML toolkits (NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• BS degree in Computer Science, Applied Sciences, Information Systems or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement systems that combine rules, models, feature engineering, and business inputs into an email detection product with senior guidance.
• Understand features distinguishing safe emails from attacks and how the model stack catches them.
• Identify new feature groups or ML approaches to improve detection; productionize signals with infrastructure teams.
• Write code with testability, readability, and edge cases in mind.
• Train models on well-defined datasets to improve efficacy for advanced attacks.
• Monitor FN/FP rates and improve overall detection through feature and rule updates.
• Contribute to data pipelines and present results to customers when needed.
