Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Mainframe Developer to design, enhance, and support healthcare claims applications, collaborating with business analysts, QA, project managers, and offshore teams.

This remote role is open to qualified applicants in the United States. You will design, develop, test, and troubleshoot COBOL/JCL/DB2-based solutions, lead code reviews, and ensure stable production systems for claims processing.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience developing mainframe applications with COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and MQ.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain healthcare claims applications.
• Translate business requirements into scalable mainframe solutions that support claims adjudication workflows.
• Troubleshoot production issues and optimize application performance; conduct code reviews and implement fixes.
• Support system integration testing, UAT, code migration, production deployment, and post-implementation validation.
• Provide technical leadership to offshore team members and coordinate onsite/offshore delivery.
