Job summary

Lumen is hiring a fully remote Senior Network Engineer in the United States. You will design, implement, and secure complex enterprise networks across LAN, WAN, WLAN, and cloud integrations, while mentoring junior engineers and guiding cross-functional teams.

You’ll drive SD-WAN initiatives, manage security controls (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS), and optimize performance with automation. This role emphasizes resilience, high availability, and thoughtful network architecture for AI-ready workloads.

Qualifications

• Experience with enterprise network design and security best practices.
• Proven ability to design and maintain SD-WAN environments (Cisco/Palo Alto).
• Knowledge of Cisco/Arista/Juniper hardware configurations and maintenance.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, OSI model, and enterprise network architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain complex enterprise network infrastructures (LAN/WAN/WLAN/clould-based).
• Drive security-focused network integration (firewall, VPN, IDS/IPS).
• Monitor and optimize network performance with advanced diagnostics.
• Design and manage cloud network architectures, including hybrid/multi-cloud.
• Provide high-level technical guidance and escalate/resolve issues.
• Develop and maintain network documentation and diagrams.
• Collaborate with vendors and stakeholders on networking solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead technical teams.
• Plan capacity, run failure testing, and disaster recovery approaches.
• Utilize automation tools to streamline deployments and operations.
