Job summary

Jensen Hughes seeks a Senior Fire & Egress Modeling Engineer in Baltimore, MD to lead complex fire and egress modeling projects across high-rise, industrial, and transportation facilities. The role requires deep knowledge of fire dynamics, egress analysis, and performance-based design, collaborating with architects, engineers, and AHJs.

The candidate should have a PE license, 7+ years in fire protection with modeling focus, and experience managing multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in fire protection engineering or related field, focusing on fire and egress modeling.
• Proficiency with FDS, PyroSim and Pathfinder.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA, IBC and related codes.
• P.E. license in Fire Protection Engineering.
• 5+ years in project management for performance-based design projects.
• Ability to review others’ smoke control/egress modeling.
• Ability to produce detailed technical reports and present to clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute fire and egress modeling projects for diverse structures.
• Apply performance-based design to life safety strategies including smoke control and evacuation.
• Interpret building and fire codes to ensure compliance.
• Conduct risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies.
• Incorporate human behavior modeling to optimize evacuations.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers and designers for integrated design.
• Evaluate system performance and optimize egress components.
• Advise clients on fire/life safety strategies and design solutions.
• Provide mentorship on modeling techniques and tools.
