Job summary

Fiscal.ai is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to own day-to-day accounting operations and support financial analysis and reporting. Reporting to Head of Finance, you will ensure accurate records, timely close, and strong internal controls.

The role involves payroll, AR/AP, capitalization tracking, and collaboration with auditors and tax professionals. Remote Canada-friendly with opportunity to influence accounting processes.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field.
• CPA designation.
• 3-5 years of experience in controllership or senior accounting.
• Strong working knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting.
• Proficiency with Excel, Google Sheets, and AI tools in an accounting/finance capacity.
• Solid understanding of full-cycle accounting and financial close processes.
• High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts, ensuring accuracy and consistency
• Perform monthly account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
• Own month-end accounting close activities, including journal entries and general ledger close processes
• Prepare and analyze variance analysis comparing actual results to budget and forecasts
• Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements for internal reporting and tax purposes, and assist in preparation of quarterly board of director Finance materials
• Draft and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and technical accounting memos
• Ensure compliance with IFRS and internal controls
• Administer Payroll, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, including invoicing, collections, and vendor payments
• Maintain and administer the company’s capitalization table, ensuring accurate tracking of equity ownership and stock option activity
• Work directly with external auditors, tax accountants, and legal advisors as required
• Support continuous improvement of accounting processes, systems, and documentation
• Serve as first point of contact for company-wide Finance activities
• Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field
• CPA designation
• 3-5 years of experience in a controllership, senior accounting, or similar role
• Strong working knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting requirements
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets and AI tools (e.g. Claude, Chat GPT) in an accounting/finance capacity
• Solid understanding of full-cycle accounting and financial close processes
• High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables
