Job summary

Natera is seeking a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist to lead architecture, development, and automation of high-throughput genomic pipelines. You will build production-grade tools to analyze NGS data including variant calling, fusion detection, and QC metrics.

The role requires strong Python, Nextflow or WDL, and cloud experience to design scalable workflows in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Remote USA options are available.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related quantitative field; 0–3 years of professional experience.
  • Master’s in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related quantitative field; 4–6 years of professional experience.
  • Deep understanding of high-throughput DNA sequence data analysis including mapping, alignment, and variant calling workflows.
  • Strong Python programming skills with NumPy, Pandas, and Scikit-learn.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze complex genomic datasets leveraging scaled in-house pipelines and collaborate with wet-lab scientists and statisticians.
  • Architect, build, and deploy automated analysis pipelines for diagnostic tests with fusion detection, variant calling, and QC metrics.
  • Develop novel genomic analysis tools and optimize pipeline accuracy and efficiency.
  • Participate in code reviews and documentation for core computational workflows.
  • Coordinate with infrastructure teams to scale R&D tools into production systems.
