Job summary

OEConnection LLC is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to own data-layer design, build scalable dbt models, and ensure Snowflake data assets are clean and trusted. You will lead by example and mentor peers across data science, product, and engineering.

This fully remote role requires collaborating with Data Platform/Engineering on ingestion pipelines, Snowpipe configurations, and external stages, while introducing AI-assisted workflows to accelerate development and documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering or data engineering.
• Expert-level dbt (Core or Cloud) with modeling, testing, and CI/CD.
• Deep Snowflake expertise in query optimization and access control.
• Advanced SQL performance tuning and data modeling concepts.
• Experience building BI semantic layers with Looker/Tableau/PowerBI.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable dbt models following modular, layered architecture.
• Own model performance: optimize Snowflake queries, configure materializations and clustering.
• Evolve dbt best practices: testing coverage, documentation, and source freshness checks.
• Code reviews for dbt PRs, establish modeling conventions, contribute to analytics playbook.
• Design Snowflake database and schema structures, manage roles and access controls, optimize warehouse sizing.
• Monitor and reduce compute costs through query profiling, result caching, and warehouse auto-suspend policies.
• Partner with Data Platform/Engineering on ingestion pipelines, Snowpipe configurations, and external stages setups.
• Use Claude and other AI tools as a force multiplier: accelerate model generation, documentation writing, SQL refactoring, test creation.
• Champion AI-assisted workflows with the team, sharing prompting patterns and use-cases that improve velocity.
• Explore analytic workflows and contribute to adoption.
• Partner with engineers and business stakeholders to translate analytical requirements into robust data models.
• Guide and mentor Associate and mid-level Analytics Engineers through code reviews, pairings, and knowledge sharing.
• Define team conventions around naming, folder structure, model contracts, and testing thresholds.
