Job summary

Macmillan Publishers in New York, NY is seeking a Senior AI Engineer (Full-Stack / Applications) to design, build and operate production-grade, cloud-native AI-powered applications. This role sits at the intersection of strong software engineering and deep AI expertise, delivering robust, scalable user-facing products with production readiness.

This role involves end-to-end ownership of AI features, cross-functional collaboration, and contributing to the modernization of key publishing

Qualifications

• Built and shipped AI-powered products at scale.
• Strong software engineering with deep AI expertise for production systems.
• Experience owning features end-to-end, from design to production.
• Knowledge of MLOps / LLMOps and production monitoring.
• Ability to translate AI research concepts into robust engineering.

Responsibilities

• Own AI-powered features end-to-end from scoping to deployment and operation.
• Design and maintain cloud-native, event-driven AI applications across the stack.
• Evaluate, integrate and optimize AI models for production use with balance of quality, latency, and cost.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and non-technical stakeholders to refine requirements.
• Build and monitor AI inference, evaluation, and monitoring pipelines.
• Develop automated AI evaluation frameworks and analyze performance data for improvements.
• Operate production systems, improve reliability, and manage technical debt.
• Stay current with AI advancements and share knowledge to upskill the team.
• Plan and track work in an agile environment and contribute to ADRs and hiring.
