Job summary

GE Aerospace is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and build the AWS-native data foundation behind our enterprise AI applications, including knowledge graphs, semantic layers, retrieval corpora, and trusted pipelines.

You will lead data modeling, governance, and retrieval engineering, collaborating with AI engineers and business teams to deliver scalable data assets and measurable improvements in grounding quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a STEM field.
• Minimum three years of data engineering experience.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship).
• 5+ years of hands-on data engineering with data models and semantic layers.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve knowledge graphs and ontologies powering AI reasoning, retrieval, and explainability.
• Align enterprise data into a coherent, queryable graph with provenance across sources.
• Own retrieval substrate: graph queries, vector indexes, and hybrid retrieval.
• Curate grounding corpora and eval datasets for LLM features.
• Instrument metrics for retrieval quality and grounding accuracy; drive improvements over time.
• Shape training and inference data contracts with AI engineers.
• Produce data models (conceptual, logical, physical) and establish standards.
• Build ingestion/transformation pipelines in Python/SQL on AWS (Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, S3, Athena, OpenSearch, Neptune).
• Profile sources, identify data quality gaps, and design automated validation, metadata, and lineage.
• Mentor engineers and citizen developers on data modeling and retrieval engineering.
• Communicate tradeoffs and value to product and exec stakeholders.
