Job summary

Hays is seeking an AI Engineer for a freelance contract with a leading global pharmaceutical company. You will design semantic AI solutions, knowledge graphs, and agentic AI architectures to support enterprise-scale AI adoption.

Responsibilities include building an Enterprise Semantic Layer, creating unified semantic representations using knowledge graphs and metadata, and ensuring governance, security, and scalable interoperability across data domains.

Qualifications

• Hands-on NLP with spaCy.
• Experience with knowledge graph or semantic layer solutions.
• Strong software engineering practices, Git, CI/CD, testing, and cloud-native architectures.
• Ability to collaborate with data engineers, architects, AI engineers, and business stakeholders.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evolve an Enterprise Semantic Layer for AI systems.
• Create unified semantic representations using knowledge graphs, ontologies, metadata, and context.
• Design scalable architectures enabling interoperability across data domains.
• Ensure security, governance, scalability, observability, and maintainability of semantic components.
• Design and implement knowledge graph architectures using RDF, OWL, SHACL, SKOS.
• Develop retrieval solutions leveraging semantic search, embeddings, NLP, metadata, and knowledge graphs.
• Integrate semantic technologies with Snowflake, Databricks, Neo4j, vector DBs, search engines, and AI platforms.
• Define testing, evaluation, monitoring, and governance approaches for semantic and agentic AI.
