Job summary

Lorien in Orange County, CA (remote eligible in the USA) seeks a Security Data Engineer to design and scale data infrastructure powering security. You will own end-to-end data pipelines, build a centralized data lake, and ensure robust log ingestion across enterprise systems.

The role requires 5+ years in data engineering, strong programming skills, and hands-on experience with cloud deployment, ETL workflows, and security data management. A Top Secret clearance is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in data engineering, preferably with security initiatives.
• Bachelor's degree in CS, IS, engineering, or related field.
• Familiarity with data lake architectures and security data management practices.
• Experience with ETL tooling in large-scale data environments (Spark, DuckDB, or similar).
• Strong programming in Go, Rust, Java/Scala, etc.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, AWS CDK, Pulumi).
• Experience deploying systems in cloud environments with CI/CD delivery.
• High autonomy and ability to own complex projects end-to-end.
• Experience building high-volume log ingestion/storage pipelines.
• Familiarity with AWS/Azure/GCP security tooling and Iceberg/Delta Lake.

Responsibilities

• Partner with security teams to define data usage standards and improve data discovery.
• Build data pipelines supporting internal security functions.
• Create and maintain a centralized security data lake for company-wide data management.
• Own scalable log aggregation pipelines across enterprise infrastructure and apps.
• Design and implement ETL workflows to ingest, transform, and store security data at scale.
