Job summary

Union of Concerned Scientists, Inc. is seeking a Science Ambassador Fellow for a 2-year remote fellowship focused on advancing Science Rising, visibility, recruitment, and engagement across UCS staff and Science Network experts.

The Fellow will coordinate a new ambassador project and participate in high-value solidarity events, national calls, and trainings. The role emphasizes science communication, project management, and equity, with travel as needed and a salary of $109,232.02 for CA

Qualifications

• Scientific background: advanced degree in a scientific field, or an undergraduate degree in a scientific field plus additional experience.
• Strong science communication, project management, and organizational skills.
• Event organizing experience (virtual and in-person).
• Volunteer management experience and/or organizing experience.
• Ability to manage multiple projects at once and adapt to fast-changing campaign needs.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to equity and inclusion in science and policy contexts.

Responsibilities

• Establish and coordinate a UCS Science Ambassador project, recruit/train Science Network experts, and track progress.
• Support UCS staff ambassadors for Science Rising.
• Act as a leading public-facing ambassador for UCS/Science Rising, representing UCS in coalitions and events.
• Lead participation in high-value solidarity events and National Calls.
• Identify opportunities to mobilize Science Network experts and UCS supporters.
