Job summary

Prince William Sound Aquaculture Corporation seeks Fisheries Technician candidates for three apprenticeship tiers across Alaskan hatcheries. You will perform hands-on fish culture tasks, data collection, and equipment operation at AFK, CCH, GH, MBH, and WNH facilities, requiring on-site residency during peak periods.

Roles scale from Tier I to Tier III, increasing responsibility, leadership, and autonomy in hatchery projects, with a strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, and adaptability in remote

Qualifications

• Tier I requires a high school diploma.
• Tier II requires 6 months Tier I experience at a PWSAC hatchery.
• Substitutions: Associate's or Bachelor's in aquaculture, fisheries, marine biology may replace 6 months Tier I.
• Tier III requires 12 months Tier II experience at a PWSAC hatchery.
• Substitutions: 18 months of paid semi-skilled experience equivalent to Tier II.
• Current and valid driver's license preferred for some locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist Eggtake procedures, including spawning and carcass disposal.
• Operate small boats (skiffs) and ATVs for hatchery activities.
• Record harvest data and maintain logs and forms.
• Maintain equipment and assist with facility upkeep and safety.
• Support Tier II/III tasks and mentor Tier I technicians when needed.
