Job summary

Intuitive Surgical in Sunnyvale, CA, seeks a Scientific Research Program Manager to oversee a portfolio of internal and external studies evaluating Digital products and services worldwide. The role leads initiation, budgeting, IRB submissions, and publication activities while coordinating with data teams and external partners.

You will ensure compliance with GCP, ISO-14155, MDR, and data protection rules. Travel up to 50% may be required, and collaboration with CROs and stakeholders is essential

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in life sciences, medicine, medical sciences, engineering, or computer/data science (required); graduate degree (preferred)
• Experience in healthcare technology industry in clinical affairs or scientific research with full PM responsibility (required)
• Five years of experience in management of research, including clinical research management in academic/hospital and industry settings (preferred)
• Knowledge of clinical research and medical device regulations (GCP, ISO-14155, MEDDEV, MDR, data protection) (required)
• Protocol and CRF development experience (required)
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects
• Ability to manage three to five projects across surgical disciplines/products
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Experience with CROs or external consultants management
• English language required; second language an advantage

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute a portfolio of internal and external collaborative research studies and evidence-generation activities
• Oversee study development, budgeting, investigator selection, recruitment analysis, documents, and IRB/ethics submissions
• Coordinate with data management and statisticians as needed
• Maintain study documentation and regulatory compliance
• Plan and manage project timelines and budgets
• Communicate risks, issues, and contingency plans
• Prepare status reports and presentations for stakeholders
• Support publication development and responses to peer review
• Ensure audit readiness and regulatory compliance
• Manage CROs or external partners and contract work
• Foster relationships with external researchers and stakeholders
