Job summary

The American Heart Association invites motivated college students to join its Internship Program for hands-on work in cardiovascular health, nutrition security, and health education. This remote internship is based in Central Florida, runs 25 hours per week, and pays $23 per hour (Jan 25, 2027–May 7, 2027).

You will support community health initiatives, engage local centers, evaluate programs, and help develop resources for communities to prevent cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Qualifications

  • Senior or graduate student pursuing public health, community health, advocacy or related field.
  • Willingness to travel to local events and meetings.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Learn quickly with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Word/Excel/Outlook/Teams/PowerPoint; Canva basic knowledge.
  • Reliable Wi‑Fi and transportation required.
  • Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between 9am-5pm.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in organizing and implementing community health initiatives across communities.
  • Support work around hypertension control, nutrition security, and tobacco/vaping efforts.
  • Engage rural healthcare centers and assist with program evaluations.
  • Develop and communicate impact stories through research and interviews.
  • Create and manage a volunteer database and respond to inquiries.
  • Identify resources meeting community health needs and collaborate with local orgs.
  • Plan trainings and community impact meetings and attend events as needed.
