Job summary

Affirm seeks an early-career Application Security Engineer who enjoys reading and reasoning about code and who is developing offensive security skills. You will assess risks, support vulnerability management, and collaborate with engineering on secure design decisions while contributing lightweight tooling and automation to scale AppSec across Affirm.

You’ll work with product and engineering teams, read code and configurations, review PRs in GitHub, and help triage and remediate security

Qualifications

• 0–2+ years of experience in application security or related fields.
• Foundational programming ability in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Kotlin or similar.
• Comfort reading, navigating, and reasoning about code.
• Experience with Git and GitHub workflows (branches, PRs, reviews, tracking).
• Some hands-on experience building, testing, breaking, or securing software.

Responsibilities

• Identify application security risks with product and engineering teams and frame them as business risks and next steps.
• Read application code, configurations, PRs, logs, and docs to spot security risks.
• Contribute code changes, scripts, detections, tests, or automation to improve workflows.
