Job summary

Gardens Alive is seeking an Assistant Merchant to maintain detailed product data across internal systems and digital platforms. You will collaborate with Merchandising, Marketing, and Operations to prepare products for launch and support customer experience with compelling content.

You will ensure data accuracy for item setup, support lifecycle tracking, and develop optimized product copy for digital channels, campaigns, and promotions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, marketing, merchandising, horticulture or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in product management, merchandising, product data management, ecommerce, or related roles.
• Working knowledge of horticulture, gardening products, plant varieties, or lawn and garden industry preferred.
• Ability to understand and communicate plant characteristics, growing requirements, and product performance attributes.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage complex product information.
• Experience with product information systems (PIM), ERP systems, or ecommerce platforms preferred.
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to develop clear product descriptions and specifications.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data tools.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enter comprehensive product specifications, attributes, imagery guidance, and assets in product management systems.
• Ensure data accuracy to support item setup, purchasing readiness, and logistics.
• Provide pack details, product identifiers, and technical specifications for availability and import processes.
• Keep vendor information and product documentation organized.
• Support assortment planning with detailed product specs and information.
• Track lifecycle status and inventory implications to aid liquidation planning.
• Verify product information before ordering to assist purchasing readiness.
• Develop optimized product copy, bullet points, and specifications for digital merchandising.
• Provide product information for marketing campaigns, promotions, and upselling opportunities.
• Collaborate with Creative teams to ensure content and imagery accurately reflect the product.
• Refine product content using performance insights and customer feedback.
• Support product performance reviews with reporting and analysis.
• Assist internal teams including Merchandising, Marketing, and Operations.
