Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Prior Authorization for a fully remote contract role with the Pharmacy Services team. You will review prior authorization requests for government-sponsored plans, verify eligibility, assess criteria, and document determinations.

The position begins as a 6-month contract with high likelihood of extension and potential for permanent hire, contingent on performance. Requires 2+ years in managed care or prior authorization and strong remote-work experience.

Qualifications

• Prior authorization experience is required.
• 2+ years of pharmacy technician experience in managed care or prior authorization.
• NHA or PTCB certification preferred but not required.
• Remote work experience strongly preferred with good self-management.
• Strong communication with providers and members.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume queue.
• Comfortable navigating PBM systems and documenting case decisions accurately.

Responsibilities

• Review prior authorization requests for coverage criteria.
• Triage and route requests; determine pharmacist review needed.
• Contact prescribers to gather missing information.
• Approve requests when criteria met; escalate complex cases.
• Enter decisions into PBM system with notes.
• Notify physicians, providers, and members of determinations.
• Respond to inquiries regarding authorizations and PBM applications.
• Follow up with providers for additional details.
