Job summary

Lumen is seeking a seasoned Principal Data Governance Architect to set enterprise governance standards and alignment with the EA taxonomy and DARB approvals. You will define guardrails for tooling, guide architecture decisions, and ensure governance is embedded in major programs.

Located remotely across the U.S., you will collaborate with Data Engineering and IT leaders to shape a scalable data estate, uphold data security, and drive policy-based data governance across cloud and on‑prem

Qualifications

• Over 10 years in enterprise data architecture with governance-by-design orientation.
• Experience with DARB governance reviews and architecture review boards.
• Expert in Databricks Lakehouse architecture including Unity Catalog and Delta Live Tables.
• Strong technical writing; produces architecture decision records that remain useful 12 months after the decision.

Responsibilities

• Own enterprise data architecture standards for governance including reference architectures and data segregation patterns.
• Represent governance in all major architecture decisions and migration programs.
• Evaluate architectural fit of new tools against Lumen's multi‑platform data estate and flag integration complexity.
• Partner with Data Engineering EA on migration architecture with governance embedded by design.
• Author and maintain governance architecture decision records in SharePoint.
