Job summary

Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) / Office of Higher Education (OHE) seeks a Power BI Developer for an 8-month engagement. The role entails building dashboards, validating student loan data, and migrating existing Tableau and Crystal Reports to Power BI.

The candidate will configure Power BI in the Power Platform, train users, and establish security/access controls. Remote role based in Minnesota with 40 hours/week, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, duration through August 31, 2027, or until project closure.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of advanced Power BI development experience.
• Experience with robust student loan data validation and forbearance data.
• Strong technical documentation skills.
• Excellent communication with senior-level stakeholders.
• Strong presentation skills for formal and informal settings.
• Experience with SQL queries, data quality, data validation, and dashboard development.
• Experience with Azure SQL Server and data refresh strategies.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain a Power BI Service reporting environment.
• Develop dashboards and complex custom Power BI visuals.
• Write and extract SQL queries; validate data from multiple sources.
• Migrate Tableau and Crystal Reports to Power BI.
• Configure Power BI within the Power Platform environment; establish security and access controls.
• Develop automated reporting routines and export data to Excel and other formats.
• Establish data refresh strategies using Azure SQL Server and other sources.
• Create technical documentation and manuals; provide training and knowledge transfer.
