Job summary

AuraOne, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer for Platform Engineering on a remote, contractor basis. You will review production code, reproduce candidate outputs in a sandbox, and grade cloud & platform solutions for correctness and edge-case handling.

You will write minimal failing tests, compare paired solutions, and document recurring failures to guide improvements. Strong testing framework experience and clear senior-level reasoning are required.

Qualifications

• Strong day-job engineering experience — read, run, and debug unfamiliar code.
• Comfort writing concise unit tests that capture a single failure mode.
• Familiarity with a testing framework (pytest, Jest, JUnit, Go test, RSpec, etc.).
• Clear written reasoning to persuade a senior engineer.
• Reliable async availability for at least 10 hours/week.
• Prior code-review or technical-interview-grading experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Run and reproduce candidate code outputs in a sandboxed environment for assignments.
• Grade cloud & platform engineering solutions for correctness, style, and edge-case handling.
• Write minimal failing tests that demonstrate a bug.
• Compare paired solutions and rank them with a rationale tied to the rubric.
• Tag failure modes with severity scores.
• Document recurring code-generation failures for the modeling team.
