Varsity Tutors, a Nerdy Company, is expanding its Live Learning Platform with thousands of students nationwide seeking online Phonics tutors. As a tutor, you’ll set your own schedule, earn competitive rates, and make a real impact on students' reading development—all from home.

We offer up to $40/hour, payments twice weekly, and a remote, flexible teaching environment. Our Tutor Copilot provides real-time instructional support to enhance sessions and save prep time.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of letter-sound correspondence, phonemic awareness, blending and segmenting, digraphs, diphthongs, vowel teams, and decoding strategies.
• Ability to explain the alphabetic principle and systematic phonics progressions while preparing beginning readers for fluent reading and spelling development.
• Multisensory teaching approaches including visual, auditory, and kinesthetic methods with connections to reading and writing activities.
• Strong communication and an engaging teaching style that adapts to student needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-on-1 online tutoring with personalized instruction.
• Accept on-demand tutoring requests as available.
