About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking pharmaceutical company focused on leveraging data to improve patient outcomes, is seeking a highly analytical and skilled Remote Pharmaceutical Data Analyst. This role is dedicated to the generation and analysis of Real-World Evidence (RWE) to support product development, market access, and pharmacovigilance activities. The Data Analyst will work with large, complex datasets from various sources, applying advanced statistical and analytical techniques to extract meaningful insights. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to contribute to critical healthcare initiatives from anywhere within South Africa. The role is essential in understanding product performance and patient journeys in real-world settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, transform, and manage large datasets from diverse sources (e.g., electronic health records, claims data, patient registries).
• Apply statistical methods and data mining techniques to identify trends, patterns, and correlations in pharmaceutical data.
• Develop and implement analytical models to generate Real-World Evidence (RWE) supporting product value and outcomes research.
• Create insightful visualizations and reports to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate with epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and medical affairs teams to define analytical approaches and interpret results.
• Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., POPIA).
• Develop and maintain documentation for data sources, analytical processes, and methodologies.
• Stay current with advancements in data analytics, RWE methodologies, and pharmaceutical industry trends.
• Support the design of real-world studies and health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) projects.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, Epidemiology, Health Economics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in data analysis, preferably within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences industry.
• Strong proficiency in statistical programming languages such as R or Python.
• Experience with database querying languages (e.g., SQL) and working with large datasets.
• Solid understanding of statistical modeling, regression analysis, survival analysis, and machine learning techniques.
• Familiarity with Real-World Data sources and RWE generation principles is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex data insights clearly.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a remote setting.
