Job summary

Utilities One in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Permit Specialist I to support broadband infrastructure permitting nationwide, offering a full-time remote role that allows growth in utility permitting while delivering critical connectivity projects.

You will prepare permit applications, track statuses, liaise with Engineering, Field, GIS, and agencies, and ensure timely delivery. The position emphasizes regulatory compliance, data accuracy, and proactive communication to avoid delays.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in utility or telecom permitting, permit coordination, or related roles.
• Familiarity with NESC standards, municipal codes, joint-use agreements, and pole permit procedures.
• Experience with PLA, MRE, and ROW or DOT permit submissions.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar software and GIS applications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit permit applications (DOT, pole attachments, ROW, traffic control) per regulations.
• Research jurisdiction policies and GIS data to support permit accuracy.
• Initiate Joint Use Pole and ROW permit applications and support PLA and MRE reviews.
• Track permit statuses using Smartsheet, KMZ files, Excel, and permit systems.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Field, GIS, and Permitting teams to maintain schedules.
• Communicate with permitting agencies to resolve issues and avoid delays.
• Maintain clear communication channels using Teams, Outlook, and collaboration tools.
