Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Penetration Testing Lead to join our security team. This remote role requires working during EST hours and leading offensive security assessments across networks, applications, APIs, and cloud environments.

You will develop testing strategies, oversee delivery of high-quality assessments, mentor junior testers, and collaborate with security, cloud, and development teams to strengthen Peraton's security posture. Prior experience in DHS/NIST frameworks is valued.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen with ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
• Bachelor's degree with extensive experience in penetration testing across networks, apps, APIs, and AWS.
• Certifications such as OSCP/OSCE/GXPN/CEH required.
• Experience planning red-team exercises and adversary emulation.
• Knowledge of NIST SP 800-115, MITRE ATT&CK, DHS RVA standards.
• Ability to mentor junior testers and communicate risk to teams and stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and documentation skills that translate findings into actionable recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute penetration testing assessments across network infrastructure, applications, APIs, and AWS cloud environments to identify, validate, and assess security vulnerabilities.
• Plan and conduct red team exercises to simulate real-world adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures and evaluate detection and response capabilities.
• Apply industry-recognized testing methodologies and standards to ensure consistent and comprehensive security assessments.
• Analyze testing results, validate findings, assess potential business impact, and provide actionable remediation recommendations.
• Maintain, configure, and optimize penetration testing tools, frameworks, and supporting technologies.
• Collaborate with security, cloud, application development, and infrastructure teams to communicate findings and support remediation.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior testers, promoting best practices.
• Continuously evaluate emerging attack techniques and tools to enhance testing capabilities.
