Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an Outpatient & Multispecialty Medical Coding Auditor to audit facility outpatient and ProFee coding across multiple specialties. Remote within the United States. You will interact with providers and stakeholders to ensure accurate, compliant coding and reimbursement.

The role emphasizes audits across specialties such as Cardiology, Orthopedics, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, and more, with a focus on E/M services and comprehensive documentation review.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of outpatient facility auditing experience with an additional two years of coding or ten years coding.
• Experience auditing facility outpatient services.
• Experience auditing professional fee (ProFee) coding and E/M services.
• Ability to interpret medical records, coding rules, and documentation.
• Knowledge of Federal, State, and payer regulations.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Audit facility outpatient records for coding accuracy, compliance, and reimbursement integrity.
• Audit ProFee coding, including E/M services and procedures.
• Audit coding across Cardiology, Orthopedics, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, and other specialties.
• Review documentation to validate diagnosis, CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM codes.
• Audit ED professional services and outpatient facility encounters.
• Communicate with providers and stakeholders to clarify documentation and opportunities.
• Provide coding education and feedback to providers, coders, and clients.
• Conduct quality assurance and peer reviews as assigned.
• Complete audit reports within established turnaround times.
• Ensure services stay current with coding, billing, and compliance requirements.
• Conduct additional audits and projects as assigned.
• Maintain minimum accuracy and productivity standards set by the company and client.
