Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator to originate loans within an assigned metropolitan territory. You will take applications, perform preliminary underwriting, and guide documents through processing and underwriting for approval.

This position requires NMLS registration and may involve travel and sales activities away from Bank locations. The role is posted as remote, but candidates near a Bank location may need to work onsite three days per week and drive 2+ hours weekly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Typically at least one year of mortgage, sales, real estate, or banking experience.
• Ability to travel.
• Strong sales and communication skills.
• Knowledge of underwriting and pricing in mortgage insurance and loan products.
• Understanding of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA and local programs.

Responsibilities

• Originate mortgage loans in an assigned metropolitan territory.
• Take applications and conduct preliminary underwriting reviews.
• Submit loan applications to processing and underwriting for approval.
• Coordinate documents for processing, underwriting, and closing; conduct sales activities as needed.
