Job summary

Mercor is hiring an ML Engineer (Coding Agent Experience) to work on frontier AI coding agents and production ML tasks in a remote capacity. You will review model-generated implementations, assess training and MLOps workflows, and help improve AI-powered systems.

The role requires 2+ years in ML engineering, experience with production ML systems, and frequent use of AI coding agents such as Cursor, Claude Code or Codex. This contract position offers pay per task.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional machine learning engineering experience.
• Experience building production ML systems, model deployment infrastructure, LLM applications, or AI-powered products.
• Regular use of AI coding agents such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Windsurf, Gemini CLI, or similar tools.
• Ability to evaluate model-generated ML implementations and technical tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Use frontier AI coding agents to complete and evaluate complex ML tasks.
• Review model-generated implementations covering training, inference, MLOps, and LLM apps.
• Identify bugs, edge cases, performance issues, and failure modes.
• Compare outputs from frontier models and assess strengths and weaknesses.
• Apply professional engineering judgment to realistic ML engineering scenarios.
