Job summary

Atwell, LLC is seeking an Environmental Planner to support siting and permitting for renewable energy projects across the Midwest, with a preference for Southfield or Allendale, MI but can be remote within the region.

You will collaborate with project teams to analyze zoning ordinances, prepare land use permits, and coordinate agency engagements while managing multiple projects and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in land use planning or related field.
• 3–7+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with NEPA preferred.
• Experience with county/local zoning ordinances.
• Experience with special land use and conditional use permits.
• Willingness to travel.
• Valid driver’s license; strong communication with teams and agencies.

Responsibilities

• Support renewable energy studies and permit applications with Project Managers.
• Coordinate with PMs, subject matter experts, field staff, and subconsultants to assemble permit applications.
• Facilitate project meetings and agency coordination.
• Develop materials for agency meetings, public outreach and stakeholder engagement.
• Coordinate project schedules, tasks, and submittal deadlines.
• Review reports and interpret impacts on project development.
• Handle multiple projects within budgets and deadlines.
