Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Medical Director to provide medical interpretation and determinations for authorization requests related to acute inpatient rehabilitation, ensuring alignment with CMS requirements, national guidelines, and Humana policies.

This remote, full-time role supports DSNP operations across the United States. The ideal candidate has an MD/DO, 5+ years of clinical care, board certification, and a valid license in at least one state.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree with board certification in an ABMS or AOA specialty.
• 5+ years of direct clinical patient care after residency/fellowship, preferably inpatient.
• Current and unrestricted license in at least one jurisdiction; willingness to obtain more.
• No sanctions from federal or state agencies; able to pass credentialing.
• Experience with analytics, quality management, utilization management.
• Knowledge of Medicare Advantage, Managed Medicaid, or other medical management.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical interpretation and determinations on authorization requests for acute inpatient rehabilitation.
• Collaborate with teams to support the review process and ensure quality outcomes.
• Participate in structured training programs and use team support in daily work.
• Maintain high standards of documentation and independent decision-making.
• Meet compliance timelines and enterprise expectations.
• This is a full-time remote role with a 40-hour week; may require occasional travel within the US.
