Job summary

UCSF is seeking a remote Medical Coder for 3 months (potential extension) to support Faculty Practice Revenue Management Operations. The role reviews patient records, discharge summaries, and operative reports to assign codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services.

The ideal candidate will be proficient with CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and Epic/APeX, and will collaborate with clinicians and staff to ensure accurate coding, compliance, and timely billing.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of professional fee/revenue cycle coding experience or equivalent.
• Experience with CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS coding.
• Epic/APeX experience.
• Strong knowledge of payer coding and billing standards.
• Excellent analytic and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an accuracy rate of 95% or higher.
• Code intermediate procedures requiring advanced knowledge.
• Review and resolve Epic edits and payer inquiries.
• Analyze charge integrity and revenue cycle data.
• Participate in audits and ensure compliance with standards.
