Qualifications

• Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS and their hospital billing applications.
• Follows AMA, CMS, and other guidelines for coding compliance.
• Ability to interpret medical documentation and assign accurate codes.
• Strong attention to detail to minimize denials and maximize accurate reimbursement.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10 diagnosis codes to patient encounters based on documentation.
• Assign CPT/HCPCS procedure codes from medical records and notes.
• Ensure coding complies with AMA, CMS, and regulatory guidelines.
• Analyze records (physician notes, labs, radiology) to extract coding-relevant info.
• Maintain accurate coding records, including productivity and accuracy metrics.
• Support coding audits and documentation improvement initiatives.
