Job summary

San Ysidro Health is seeking a PACE Medical Coder to review clinical documentation and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS codes per Official Guidelines. The role is hybrid with remote work predominance and quarterly on-site meetings.

Candidates must reside in California or be willing to relocate before employment, with required CPC/CCS certification and one year coding experience. Strong communication and anatomy knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of medical coding experience required with a CPC or CCS.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current CPC or AHIMA/AAPC certification required.

Responsibilities

• Review chart notes and diagnoses to assign ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS codes accurately.
• Verify codes in the EHR and ensure proper sequencing according to guidelines.
• Communicate with providers to clarify documentation for accurate coding and reimbursement.
• Identify chargeable items in notes to assign correct codes.
• Ensure timely coding in accordance with department policies.
