Job summary

Mercor is seeking physicists to work on research-level physics problems across subfields. This is remote and asynchronous, 10 hours per week, 8-10 weeks, starting immediately. You will produce complete reasoning and papers with your contributions.

Applicants must have a PhD in mathematical/ theoretical physics or mathematics, a verifiable publication record, and proficiency with LaTeX, Python, SymPy, and Jupyter.

Qualifications

• PhD in mathematical physics, theoretical physics or mathematics is a hard requirement.
• A verifiable publication record with arXiv IDs or DOIs, ideally from the last five years.
• Working proficiency with LaTeX, Python, SymPy and Jupyter; some familiarity with an agentic coding extension in VS Code.

Responsibilities

• Engage in research-level physics problems within a specific subfield and contribute complete, verifiable work.
• Prepare outputs that another specialist can follow and reproduce, including written reasoning.
