Job summary

Hims & Hers Health, Inc. is seeking a Manager, Material Scientist to lead pre‑formulation and material science initiatives across multiple dosage forms. This role bridges early drug concepts with final formulations, emphasizing characterization, compatibility testing, and quality across products.

Remote work with occasional travel is available. You will guide technical execution, develop internal capabilities, and collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and external partners to enable scalable

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
• 2–5+ years of prior people management experience.
• Strong background in material characterization techniques used in pharmaceutical development.
• Deep understanding of physical chemistry and drug material properties (BCS principles).
• Experience solving complex material or drug performance challenges across development or production.
• Cross‑functional collaboration to support product development and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Lead physicochemical characterization of drug substances using XRD, DSC/TGA, Raman, and SEM.
• Evaluate solubility, pKa, logP, and hygroscopicity to inform formulation strategy.
• Design and interpret excipient compatibility studies for stability and shelf life.
• Partner with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and other teams to address formulation challenges.
• Manage relationships with external partners for testing, development, and innovation.
• Support material qualification, defining specifications for APIs, excipients, vitamins, and minerals.
