Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead design, development and testing of automotive infotainment software using C++, Kotlin, Rust, etc. Remote role with requirement to report if within 50-mile radius of Austin, Detroit, Warren, Milford or Mountain View.

You will guide architectural decisions, mentor teams, collaborate across design, product, safety and manufacturing, and ensure scalable, secure solutions while maintaining speed and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Software, CS or equivalent.
• 10+ years leading Infotainment HMI applications.
• Experience leading global teams.
• Experience in Product Driven Organization model.
• Large Agile program delivery including APIs and cloud.
• Strong focus on Customer Experience.
• Proven leadership in automotive infotainment environments.

Responsibilities

• Define and approve software architecture choices and strategies.
• Lead cross-functional reviews for product capability and on-time delivery.
• Develop architectural solutions for maintainable infotainment software.
• Manage partnerships with engineering, product, marketing and manufacturing.
• Foster internal and external collaboration for holistic product delivery.
• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration for vehicle infotainment features.
• Mentor and coach employees.
• Engage in agile planning and user-story analysis.
