Job summary

TekSynap, a growing high-tech company serving federal government customers, seeks a Lead Cybersecurity Engineer/Scientist to support the Defense Health Agency and NIWC Atlantic initiatives from the North Charleston, SC area. The role is office-based with potential telework and travel 10–20% within CONUS.

You will lead RMF/CAC activities, perform IV&V testing, develop assessment reports, and guide security architecture across DoD systems. A Secret clearance is preferred, TS a plus.

Qualifications

• 15 years of DoD engineering or cybersecurity experience, including managerial experience.
• Experience implementing the RMF lifecycle.
• Experience with STIG validation.
• Experience conducting IV&V testing.
• Experience with eMASS.
• Experience performing vulnerability assessments.
• Enterprise network security experience.
• U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance; Top Secret preferred.
• IAM Level III certification preferred (CISSP/CISM/CASP/GSLC/CCISO).
• Knowledge in cybersecurity engineering, RMF, risk assessment, vulnerability analysis, and system security architecture.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical execution of cybersecurity assessments and authorization activities.
• Implement RMF controls across systems, enclaves, and sites.
• Develop and maintain Security Assessment Plans and cybersecurity test procedures aligned with NIST and DoD guidance.
• Assess controls and conduct IV&V testing.
• Perform vulnerability assessments using ACAS, HBSS, and related tools; analyze results and recommend remediation actions.
• Prepare Security Assessment Reports, document findings, and update test results.
• Lead RMF package development and support SSPs, SARs, POA&Ms, and related artifacts.
• Review system security architecture and conduct risk analyses.
• Develop and support authorization packages in eMASS; validate RMF artifacts.
• Plan and execute IV&V test events, oversee STIG implementation, and develop test matrices.
• Support cybersecurity test automation and tool development.
