Job summary

University of Maryland Faculty Physicians, Inc. seeks a Lead Accounts Receivable Claims Specialist to oversee daily AR Claims operations in Chesapeake Specialty Care.

You will guide the denial resolution process, ensure payer compliance, and mentor the AR team to maximize reimbursements. Responsibilities include coordinating workflow, reviewing complex denials and appeals, staying current on payer policies, and collaborating with providers and leadership to improve revenue cycle performance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in Healthcare Administration or related field preferred.
• 4–5 years of experience in medical billing, AR, or denial management.
• 1–2 years of leadership, supervisory, mentoring, or team lead experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of medical insurance plans (commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare).
• Experience with CPT/ICD-10 codes and practice management systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the daily workflow of the Accounts Receivable Claims team.
• Serve as the primary resource for denial resolution, appeals, and payer-specific requirements.
• Stay current on payer policies and communicate changes to team members.
• Monitor AR work queues to identify and resolve denials.
• Review and resolve complex claim denials, underpayments, and reimbursement discrepancies.
• Prepare and submit appeals with supporting documentation.
