Job summary

Bright Vision Technologies is seeking an experienced Kafka Engineer to architect, deploy, and operate large-scale Apache Kafka and Confluent platform environments supporting mission-critical workloads.

The role owns the Kafka platform end-to-end, including sizing, security, automation, observability, and developer enablement, partnering with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver reliable streaming services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years operating Apache Kafka or Confluent Platform in production.
• Deep knowledge of Kafka internals: partitions, replication, ISRs, consumer groups.
• Strong scripting skills: Python, Bash, or Go.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible).
• Experience with Kafka security: SASL, mTLS, ACLs, RBAC.
• Familiarity with observability tooling for Kafka.
• Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and operate large-scale Kafka/Confluent clusters across on‑prem and cloud.
• Design partitioning, replication, and topic strategies for throughput and durability.
• Implement Kafka security using SASL, mTLS, ACLs, RBAC, and IdP integration.
• Operate Schema Registry, Kafka Connect, KSQL/ksqlDB, and Kafka Streams in prod.
• Build and operate Kafka Connect pipelines across enterprise systems.
• Design HA/DR strategies including MirrorMaker 2 and multi-region patterns.
• Build CI/CD pipelines for Kafka configurations using GitOps.
• Implement observability with Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or Confluent Control Center.
• Mentor engineers and maintain runbooks and documentation.
• Evaluate new streaming technologies (Pulsar, Redpanda, AWS MSK, Azure Event Hubs).
